CHOCTAW, Miss. (March 7, 2008) Guests to Pearl River Resort can catch legendary soul singer Al Green in concert at the Silver Star Convention Center, Thursday April 3, at 9 p.m.
Green released a series of hits that introduced his amazing voice to the world with songs like: "Let's Stay Together," "I Cant Get Next to You," "Tired of Being Alone," "Im Still in Love With You," "Call Me," "Let's Get Married," "Here I Am" and "Love and Happiness."
He began singing professionally at age nine when he and his brothers formed a gospel quartet in their hometown of Forest City, Arkansas. The group toured the gospel circuits in the south, then began performing around Michigan when the family moved to Grand Rapids. By age 16 Green had his first hit when he formed a pop group with friends, Al Green and the Creations and released the single, "Back Up Train" in 1967, reaching number five on the R&B charts.
